It’s summer break here on OUR beautiful island of Madeira, and we’ve been busy visiting with family and local friends. But we miss you all! So we thought we’d bring you the sights and sounds of a relaxing summer here on this amazing island. Four years after moving to Madeira, and we love it more than ever. This is a celebration of paradise found and thriving. Madeira is evolving just like any other tourist hotspot. Tourism is the lifeblood of the Madeira economy. The island, the culture, and the people are vibrant and thriving.

We love that Madeira is not overcrowded or over-developed like so many places on the mainland, or elsewhere in Europe. We know what that’s like. We remember well our 3-month odyssey driving around mainland Portugal in our rented motor home. We saw it all, from north to south, east to west, and while there were many amazing sights and places, many like Porto, Lisbon, the Algarve, and many other mainland tourist destinations, were so over-crowded.

Madeira is a breath of fresh air, literally. The perfect mix of city, country, island life, ocean – and people.

So turn up the volume, sit back and relax, and enjoy the soothing sights and ASMR sounds of an idyllic summer on Madeira…Still paradise, still home.
